Patricia
Scimeca arrived in New York upon completion of her undergraduate
studies at the University of North Texas music school, to continue
her vocal studies. Under the guidance of her university teacher,
Jeannine Crader (New York City Opera Dramatic Soprano and international
artist), she began tutelage with several revered teachers including
the late Madame Elda Ercole (Mezzo-soprano, performed with the
San Carlo Grand Opera Co. in the 1920's), the late Richard Hughes
(American tenor), Margaret Harshaw (the late Metropolitan Opera
Wagnerian Great), Ruth Falcon (international artist and Metropolitan
Opera Soprano), and Norma Newton, (international artist and Metropolitan
Opera Soprano) her mentor and teacher to the present.
Although born in Texas, Patricia is a true New Yorker at heart. She has built a
vocal career of varied colors, singing from Texas to Wisconsin,
and New York to California, performing opera, concerts and oratorio.
After 25 years of working as a singer, singing opera and concerts
and winning competitions, Patricia decided that perhaps life had
more in store for her hard work and years of study and performing
with great teachers, coaches and conductors-she would share what
she had learned about singing and have some fun while doing it.
For the past 10 years, Patricia has maintained a private voice
studio in her home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is
a member of the New York Teachers of Singing Association ( NYSTA),
Opera America, and a Board Member of the New York Opera Project
(NYOP). Every 3-5 months she hosts an open Voice Class in the
evening for the students to invite friends and family to hear
their progress. Because of her belief that all teachers should
continue to grow and learn, she continues to study vocal anatomy
and vocal accoustics at a NYSTA-sponsored course at Columbia University Teacher's College
in the Fall of 2007 and Spring of 2008.
